Summer Assignment
To get a jump start on the content for the class, you will be studying the first 4 chapters of the text over the summer. These chapters cover societies in America before Europeans, European colonization, and changes in society up to the American Revolution.
For chapters 1-4 of the textbook, complete the following: terms, watch and take notes over corresponding crash course videos, and be ready to discuss the big questions. I have the first 4 chapters of the book scanned and attached to this page because I do not know when the school will be re-opened for you to check out a book. I know that is not ideal, but at least we have access. I will let you know when/if there is a time for you to check out a textbook.
DO NOT wait until the last minute to do this assignment. There is TOO MUCH information to cover well the few days before school starts. I will be collecting and grading your terms for textbook chapters 1-4.

Terms
Define the following terms using the textbook. Yes, you can find the definitions online, but often those definitions do not provide you with the specific historical context of the term or provide you with an alternate definition than we need for class. These must be HANDWRITTEN. Studies have shown that you retain more that you hand write than what you type. Because there is so much information that we need to cover so quickly, the quicker we can retain, the better. I will be checking these the first week of school.

Crash Course
Watch John Green's Crash Course US History videos 1-6. Complete the Guided Notes over each video to help provide context for the terms. Guided notes need to be fairly detailed but not in complete sentences.
